Headset critique David 1/29/2008 | Looking for a new pair of phones as I've used these for 6months, and although the sound is ok, when for eg: a sound track changes dramatically the phones emit a crack even on speach, its livable but annoying, spoils films. thats why I'm looking for a new set. | | | Great budget alternative to Sennheisser RS120 Muso 11/25/2006 | Just bought a pair of these headphones. They are a well made product with a good sound. The Panasonic extra bass system means they have a very powerful bass response - too much for me sometimes, but this can be compensated for by turning the bass down on the amplifier feeding them. They are easy to use and pretty comfortable. They do grip your head fairly tightly so are very secure, but some people might find them a bit too tight. I have worn them for several hours at a time and found them to be comfortable and they do not slip off. Being closed 'phones they are less likely to disturb those around you too - though a bit of noise leaks out and you can still hear sounds around you (well unless you have the volume at deafening levels!).You need to play around with the volume of the source - if it is set too high then quiet passages will be heard to increase in volume, obviously because the automatic gain control compresses the louder sections. However, I found if you turn the source down until this no longer happens then the reproduction is faithful to the original. The overall sound quality is very good. On quiet passages you can hear a bit of background hiss, but it is not obtrusive if you get the volume settings right. Obviously as with any wirelss headphones, you get the occasional swish noise as the signal fades - but I have noticed very little of this as I have walked around and have rarely had to use the manual tuning control on the right earphone once set up.Recharging is straightforward, though not quite as convenient as some others since you have to plug the headphones into the base station - but then the base station is tiny compared to other models - it does not include a headphone rest for storage. The NiMH batteries last for a long time (offically 20 hours).Overall a very good product - if you are looking for a cheaper alternative to the Sennheiser RS120s (with a similar spec) then the RP-WF810s should fit the bill. | | |
